A: Due to the specialized nature of transmissions, I would recommend a transmission shop or a dealer. The advantage of a transmission shop, is they tend to be more experienced with working on actual transmissions, and they are knowledgeable of the special needs of different vehicles. Transmission specialty shops also tend to be less expensive than the dealer while still providing a good service. At the dealer you will pay a lot more for the same service, but they are the dealer and some people have a greater level of comfort knowing that.
